Salaam, Sister!

Have you ever prayed really hard for something that you really wanted–and your dua STILL wasn’t answered?

Maybe you prayed for…
a better job
more money
a husband or a better marriage
a more fit & healthy body
or, life guidance in general…

So what happened to your dua? Did you not pray hard enough? Is Allah ignoring you because you’re not a “perfect Muslimah”? Is Allah not answering you because He just doesn’t want to?

Here’s the thing, Sister: Every dua gets answered immediately.

As soon as you raise your hands to ask Allah for something, He puts that thing (or something better!) in your path. Allah promises us this in The Quran (Quran 2:186)… But He also swears that He won’t change your situation until you first change yourself (Quran 13:11).

So, when we feel that Allah hasn’t answered our dua, we have to ask ourselves: “What do I need to change? How am I blocking myself from getting what I want?”

The most common blocks are baggage from your past, lack of faith that Allah will bless you, confusion about what you really want, impatience, low self-confidence…and the most crucial — a lack of connection to Allah.

We’re going to break through these blocks in our new online class: Muslim Women Connected.

Post image for Lifestyle : What do you splurge and save on?

Me? I splurge on good modest clothing. If you’re a hijabi, you know that sometimes it can be difficult to find the perfect shirt that is cute, has long sleeves, and covers your behind. So, when I find something really good like that, sometimes I just have to ignore the price tag and buy it. I also splurge on good food. We try to eat as organic as possible in my house. So when we go grocery shopping, we have to spend a few extra dollars in order to get better quality food.

What do I save on?
I save on drugstore items like toiletries and beauty products (except for when I need a MAC fix!). I usually find great deals on these items at drugstores like CVS. CVS actually helps me save even more money because it gives you Extra Bucks on your shopping receipts throughout the year. The Extra Bucks are usually worth around $5 and you have to use the money at that store. CONFESSION: When I get Extra Bucks on my receipts, I usually turn right back around and buy some more stuff before I leave the store… Pathetic right?

What about you, ladies? What do you splurge and save on? Do you clip coupons? Do you buy a great new car every couple of years? Do you “invest” in good shoes and handbags because they’ll last longer? Or are you a frugal girl all the way?
